THIS MONTH IT’S JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT

Below are four beautiful Christmas cards that are sure to delight. Just match the photo number to the making instructions and enjoy!

WHAT DO YOU DO?

  • Print out the templates (click here) and cut them out. Cut along the slot lines too.
  • Draw round the templates on your card and cut them out.
  • Decorate each tree shape to your own taste.
  • When dry, slot the two shapes together and the tree will then stand up. The trees can be left together and folded flat for posting.

CARD 2 - Wire Bauble

YOU WILL NEED
1 sheet of A5 card (we used cream embossed), 1 sheet of each of Cream, red and gold A6 card, ribbon (approx 30cm), 22 or 24 gauge wire, beads, peel off greeting, scissors, glue.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

  • Cut the 3 A6 cards to size so that a small border is left showing when the pieces are finally layered together.
  • Thread a selection of beads onto your wire then make a tight twist at the end of your wire to stop the beads falling off.
  • Twist the wire into a scroll pattern gradually feeding a few beads at a time into your scrolling. Finish off at the top with a loop to hang the ‘bauble’ shape by.
  • Tie your ribbon through the wire loop and stick it on the smaller piece of cream card to hang the bauble centrally hiding the end of the ribbon by folding it over the top and gluing it into position. Tie a bow and stick it on top of the ribbon to cover the wire loop.
  • Assemble all the layers of card onto your A5 card (folded in half) and glue into position – finish off with a peel off greeting.

CARD 4 - Snowflake

YOU WILL NEED
1 sheet of A4 card folded into thirds, blue background paper approx one third A4 size (or create your own using Artkure pens or watercolour – we used Artkure pens in our example), foam snowflake, ultra fine glitter, glue, knife, ruler, pencil.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

  • Mark a rectangle on the front of your triple folded card and cut it out.
  • Cut your strip of background paper and position it on the card folded round behind your rectangular window.
  • Cover your foam snowflake with glue and sprinkle ultra fine crystal glitter over it – tap off the excess.
  • Position the snowflake on the cover of your card partly over the rectangle window – glue it in place.

CARD 3 - Anna Griffin stamped card with band

YOU WILL NEED
A5 sheet of Cream card, Anna Griffin Holly background rubber stamp, gold stamp pad, red and gold A6 card, strip of cream paper 21cm x 3.5cm, two 21cm strips of gold satin ribbon, Anna Griffin Christmas tree brass stencil, double sided tape, embossing tool, scissors, pattern edge scissors.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

  • Stamp the holly background in gold onto the red A6 piece of card. Trim this and the gold card to size so that when they are layered together a small border of each colour is left showing. Glue in position onto the front of the A5 cream card (folded in half).
  • Use your edging scissors to trim both the long sides of the strip of cream paper. Find the middle of the strip and use the star pattern on the brass template to emboss a pattern on the centre of the band.
  • Stick the two strips of ribbon behind the edges of the paper using double sided tape then wrap the completed band loosely around your card positioning the embossed star centrally at the front (if this is pulled too tightly, it will be difficult to remove it from the card – if too loose, it will just fall off). Secure the ends of the strip with double sided tape and trim off any excess.
