Dear Help Team
Do I always have to stretch watercolour paper?
Stretching avoids the paper cockling whilst you are painting. Heavier paper like 200lb does not need stretching, 140lb paper is borderline – some artists do stretch this weight - we don’t . 90lb paper does need to be stretched.
Dear Julie
In Watercolour Painting, what is
masking fluid used for?
Masking fluid is a sort of rubberised
solution which is waterproof when
dry and is therefore used to protect an area from paint. So if you have something white in your picture, paint it with masking fluid after you have completed your drawing, make sure you let the masking fluid dry completely, then paint over the top. When you are ready to expose the white areas, make sure.

What’s the best paint to use on air drying clay ?
Acrylic paint is the best – it is water based, but waterproof when dry and dries to a satin finish. You can get a range of different mediums and varnishes to alter the finished look.

I’m having trouble lining up my Anna Griffin background rubber stamp when multiple stamping to create larger backgrounds? Joan
Use a stamp positioner – an ‘L’ & flat block made of clear acrylic. Put the L and block together and stamp your image onto the block so the stamp is tight into the corner of the L. Stamp your first image on your card, then line up the stamped image on the block to where the next image should be. Move the L back into position alongside the block, remove the block and use the L to guide you where to place the next stamp image. Keep repeating this process then wipe your block clean.

I can’t tie a neat ribbon bow to stick on a card.
Lay your ribbon out flat in front of you. Pinch it up into two loops, now tie a knot with the two loops and adjust the bow to be the right size. This should give you a nice flat attractive bow every time.

Can you please tell me the best way to attach vellum to my card whatever I use it shows through? Regards Dorothy
Sticking Vellum is always troublesome. The best solution we have found is a Make Me brand of spray glue. Spray your vellum with the glue, let it dry for about 15 -30 seconds then stick it down – it even worked for us on dark card colours which are notoriously difficult. Why not also try other tricks like using Brads, eyelets or ribbon to attach your vellum without the need for glue.
